Stafford County Prevention Coalition
Working across Stafford County to prevent youth substance use and strengthen the health and well-being of our community.
The Stafford County Prevention Coalition (SCPC) brings together community members, organizations, schools, public agencies, and local leaders to prevent substance misuse and promote healthy, resilient communities.
NVAPH provides support to the Stafford County Prevention Coalition as it works to understand local needs, strengthen community partnerships, implement evidence-informed prevention strategies, and evaluate progress. The coalition uses community data and local knowledge to identify priorities and develop approaches that respond to the needs of Stafford County residents.
Substance misuse prevention is most effective when communities work together. SCPC brings diverse partners to the table to build a shared understanding of local challenges and identify opportunities for action.
The coalition's work includes:
Understanding community needs through local data and community input
Strengthening partnerships among public agencies, schools, nonprofits, community organizations, and residents
Implementing evidence-informed prevention strategies that address identified community priorities
Building community capacity to sustain prevention efforts over time
Evaluating progress to understand what is working and where strategies can be improved
SCPC uses data to help identify patterns, risk and protective factors, and emerging concerns affecting Stafford County. This information helps coalition members establish priorities and make informed decisions about prevention activities.
NVAPH supports the coalition's use of evaluation and data so that community partners can track implementation, assess outcomes, and use what they learn to continuously improve their work.
Prevention is an investment in the long-term health of a community. By bringing partners together before problems become more serious, SCPC works to strengthen the protective factors that help young people, families, and communities thrive.
The coalition's work reflects NVAPH's broader commitment to practical, community-based public health: bringing people together, using evidence and data, and turning knowledge into action.
Community prevention works best when everyone has a role. Organizations, community leaders, professionals, parents, young people, and residents can contribute to a healthier Stafford County.
